Unit3- my Well-being

Physical Wellbeing- Grading different categories I think my physical wellbeing is around an 8. On average I work out about 4-5 times a week so I think my physical wellbeing is above average but I could and need to definitely kick it up a notch to really push myself.

Spiritual Wellbeing- I think my spiritual wellbeing is high so I give it 8, I try to stay positive and optimistic through all situations and wake up looking forward to what the day has to offer.

Psychological Wellbeing- In this category I give myself a 6. I could use more focus on my psychological wellbeing, I do not take specific time to enhance my mind, like meditation and so forth but do understand I should but need to improve in that area.

On a scale of 1-10 I consider my optimal wellbeing overall I give it a 7. I think the my main focus in these areas for improvement, is to change a few small things, I think if I were to eat healthier I could really improve my bodies physique and development, I do not like to eat a lot of healthy food like vegetable and salads etc. even when I know its best. My goal is to eat more vegetables. From a psychological standpoint I need to take time out of my day to relax and soothe my mind, I think by doing this it will help with the flow of my day, taking a break out of my busy on the go schedule will allow me to refocus. So my goal is to take 10-15 minutes a day to engage in some types of meditation. Spiritually I feel I’m on track, I believe I have a positive outlook on every aspect of life, and as long as I maintain that I will remain healthy and wellbeing will flourish.

Listening to this week’s relaxation activity “The Crime of the Century” I thought it provided a nice relaxation and calmness, but once again I was not really able to get the full experience that some might. I enjoyed the positive reinforcement statements i.e. the saying “my life has meaningful purpose” “I feel balance” I think those were great, but I couldn’t really vibe with the references to colors and rainbows. Overall though it got me into a state of calm but did make me somewhat restless. Did anybody else experience anything like me?

  1. Hi AO,

I found that I rated myself on physical and spiritual wellness the same. I also gave myself an 8 in those areas. You do, however; work out more than I do so that made me wonderful if I should reconsider (smile). I chose to look at it from a standpoint of how healthy I am though in addition to how I implement physical fitness. All in all, you sound like you're doing well. Like you, I enjoyed this week's relaxation activity. In the past, I have studied colors and their psychological associations so I could relate to that. My problem with the relaxation exercises is that I get so relaxed that I get sleepy. Any advice for that?

  2. Goof luck on eating more vegetables! I am a vegan, and am really benefiting from the fresh veg. Rarely get sick, enjoy a wide range of foods, cook like a champ, and spend less overall at the grocery store. It's easy to gradually do it. Try meatless Monday to start, and add fish Friday.

    Best of Luck to you
