Unit 8- Optimal Well-being

Hello folks,

Throughout this class the exercise and practice sessions I have enjoyed the most and think will be most beneficial down the road is subtle mind and loving kindness. I chose these to because  they both work on different but very important aspects of life. Universal Loving kindness opens all angles to allow your self and others to express caring, open heartiness, generosity and emotions. I believe loving kindness is key to one being stress free and living an optimistic lifestyle. Subtle mind begins with your inner self and focus of  freeing your mind. "The undeveloped mind, which was once our greatest slayer, can then become our greatest healer" (Dacher,2006). Subtle mind is a process to teach your mind to be still and calm. These are very important practices for you to reach integral health.I can implement these practices into my life by engaging myself in these exercises daily. The more you practice and make it routine the better your chances are to get the full potential from them to fully flourish.

  1. I too feel that the loving kindness and subtle mind exercises are the most beneficial. Living a an optimistic lifestyle is a choice and I definitely think that the loving kindness helps us to focus on optimism because when we focus on the positive I think it leaves less room for negativity. I know a few pessimists that that prefer to be labeled as realists, but I think that speaks to what they expect from life. If we can change our expectations I think that changes our perspective as well.

  2. I share your opinion on the subtle mind exercise however I chose meditation and visualization primarily and said that the subtle mind exercise was a close second with visualization though. I have a great respect for the loving kindness exercise because I feel that it connects us with others and our environment. I agree with your statement regarding practice. Even if practice doesn't make perfect as the old saying says, it makes you a lot better than you were. Good blog.
